Most organisations begin by asking:
Where can we put AI?
A better starting point is:
Where does AI actually belong?
That one shift changes the conversation.
Some work should be automated. Some should be assisted. Some should be augmented. And some should remain human because it involves trust, judgement, accountability, ethics, relationships or exceptions.
AI does not remove human responsibility. It changes where that responsibility sits.
Before approving another tool, pilot or platform, ask the team to map the work clearly. If they cannot explain what should be automated, assisted, augmented or kept human, the decision needs more work.
