Your AI Project Has a Budget Owner, Not a Risk Owner

Your AI project may not have a risk owner.
It may only have a budget owner.
There is an important difference.
A budget owner approves the money.
A risk owner owns what happens if that money does not deliver the expected outcome.
Before approval, leaders need to ask:
Who says no if the project is not working?
Who has the authority to pause it?
Who redesigns the project if the assumptions are wrong?
Who explains the outcome to the board if the expected return does not materialise?
If you cannot name that person before approval, the risk is floating.
Floating risk has a habit of landing badly later.
Assign ownership of the risk before committing the spend.
