What does a governed AI decision pack look like?

A practical example of how The Human Pause turns a complex AI decision into a board-grade recommendation: clear use cases, named controls, risk boundaries, accountable owners and a phased roadmap.
This sample board pack shows what AI readiness looks like when the decision is treated properly before implementation begins.
The example is based on a multi-branch pharmacy business: regulated, operationally complex, commercially pressured and exposed to clinical, financial, data and governance risk. It does not treat AI as a generic productivity tool. It asks where AI can safely support better decisions, where it must not act autonomously, and what needs to be true before any deployment is approved.
The pack recommends a controlled decision-support strategy rather than autonomous clinical automation. It prioritises high-value, lower-risk use cases such as an FD / Owner Confidence Dashboard, NHS payment and reimbursement reconciliation, rota and qualification planning, services yield optimisation and stock exception management. It also sets clear exclusions around clinical advice, diagnosis, medication selection, final dispensing approval, autonomous NHS claims and autonomous ordering.
The purpose of this sample is to show the standard of clarity a board should expect before committing to AI. A good AI decision should be explainable, owned, governed and defensible before money, vendors or operational exposure are put in motion.
But the report is only half the value.
After a Human Pause engagement, clients also receive access to a dedicated AI agent trained on the findings, recommendations and evidence from their pack. For 28 days, they can question the agent, challenge the assumptions, explore the use cases, test board concerns and ask what the recommendations mean in practice.
The result is not just a document to read once. It is a decision-support asset that stays with the leadership team while they consider, challenge and refine their next move.
Need this level of clarity before an AI decision is approved?
